How to use mkfs.fat?

Below are few example commands for mkfs.fat that you can use in the terminal.

Create a fat filesystem inside partition 1 on device b (`sdb1`):
mkfs.fat /dev/sdb1Click to copy
Create filesystem with a volume-name:
mkfs.fat -n volume_name /dev/sdb1Click to copy
Create filesystem with a volume-id:
mkfs.fat -i volume_id /dev/sdb1Click to copy
Use 5 instead of 2 file allocation tables:
mkfs.fat -f 5 /dev/sdb1Click to copy
Install the latest version of mkfs.fat in Debian, Ubuntu, Alpine, Arch, Kali, CentOS, Fedora, Raspbian and macOS from terminal. To install the mkfs.fat just copy the above command for your OS and run into terminal. After you run the command it will grab the latest version of mkfs.fat from the respository and install it in your computer/server.
